The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) estimates that over 1.1 million men underwent a cosmetic procedure, either minimally invasive or surgical. And while this number is nowhere near as high as female patients (11.5 million), it is indicative of quite a few things that cosmetic procedures for males have risen 2% vs. 2009, with big gains in facelifts and liposuction.

Kind of makes you wonder, eh? The article goes on to say:
One reason […] may be the real or perceived benefits of looking younger. Some studies indicate that men who appear younger fare better in the job market. Many men feel that maintaining a youthful appearance improves their confidence and gives them an edge in the workplace.

“The medical spa concept is growing so rapidly because younger patients are having cosmetic procedures in their 20′s instead of waiting until they are showing some serious aging in their 40′s,” says Wendy Lewis, a New York City plastic and cosmetic surgery consultant who advises patients in search of exactly the right plastic surgeon for a particular procedure.
